    Principal, Chief Investment Officer

    Richard serves as Chief Investment Officer, Principal, and Portfolio Manager at Carnegie. He is responsible to oversee the investment process of the firm and manage custom portfolios for selected clients. Richard has over 25 years of experience in investment management. He has worked in various firms including Merrill Lynch, Roulston & Company, Hubbard Associates, and Greenleaf Capital Management. He has served on various non-profit boards such as Ashtabula County Medical Center and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Richard earned his B.S Finance from The University of Dayton.   • Gary P. Wagner

    Principal, Chief Operations Officer

    Gary joined Carnegie in 2003. Currently, he serves as a Portfolio Advisor and Principal/COO. He works directly with clients to provide investment and strategic wealth advice. He sits on Carnegie’s Investment Committee and also manages the firm’s strategic initiatives and operations. Prior to joining Carnegie, Gary had worked with the Reserve Management Corp, Schwab Institutional, and Federated Investors. He earned his B.S. Finance from Duquesne University and an MBA from Kent State University. He works with the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland as the Finance Committee lead for the Capital Campaign and the Planned Giving Committee. He is a Treasurer and Board Member of March of Dimes – Northeast Ohio. He is also a member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals Cleveland and the Financial Planning Association. Gary and his wife reside in Solon with their daughter and twin boy and girl.

  • Arthur G. Merriman, III

    Principal, Senior Portfolio Manager

    Art Merriman joined Carnegie in Summer, 2014. He is a Principal and Senior Portfolio Manager and brings over 30 years of experience in portfolio management to the firm. Over the past 15 years, Art was a Senior Vice President at Stifel, Nicolaus and Portfolio Manager at Century Securities, providing advisory services focused on stocks, bonds, options, and portfolio structure. Most recently Art was Managing Director with MAI Wealth Advisors, LLC, where he co-managed the Dividend Plus mutual fund, a strategy using option writing to enhance portfolio income. A 1980 graduate of Bowdoin College, Art holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Society of Cleveland.

  • Stephanie Bush

    Compliance and Integration Director

    Stephanie is a Registered Investment Advisor and is responsible for a variety of duties including client relations, trading, planning, and operations. Prior to joining The Alpine Financial Group in 2010, Stephanie supervised financial advisors in a compliance capacity at UBS Financial Services and Morgan Stanley and worked in a sales and trading capacity at Fidelity Investments. Having also served as an Assistant Vice President in Risk Management for Fifth Third Bank, Stephanie possesses a broad knowledge of both securities and banking. Stephanie earned her BBA from the University of Cincinnati and lives with her husband and two children in Mason, Ohio. She has been involved in a variety of non-profit organizations and is very active in both of her children’s schools.

  • Douglas Pease

    Trader, Portfolio Manager

    Doug joined Carnegie in 2004. He works as a Lead Trader and Research Analyst. He supports the Investment Committee and coordinates all trading activities for the firm. He is also responsible for collecting critical research necessary to make informed and well thought out decisions. Before joining Carnegie, Doug resided in Chicago and worked as a Research Associate for a Senior Research Analyst at Prudential Securities covering the Capital Goods-Heavy Machinery. Afterwards, he became an Associate Research Analyst for an ex-Managing Director of Salomon Smith Barney who opened her boutique equity research company covering the Steel Industry. Doug received a B.S in Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1999 and also went to University School in Cleveland. He resides in Ohio City and keenly participates in various associations and non-profits to revive Cleveland.

  • Brent Luce

    Senior Portfolio Manager

    Brent serves as Senior Portfolio Manager and sits on the Investment Committee. Brent manages custom portfolios for selected clients and is an integral part of Carnegie’s investment selection and portfolio structuring processes. Brent brings nearly twenty years of investment experience to the Carnegie team. He has developed a deep understanding of the financial markets through years of experience in investment research, trading, portfolio management, strategy development and alternative investments. Prior to joining Carnegie, Brent was a Partner and Portfolio Manager with CapitalWorks, LLC where he co-founded and managed a long/short equity hedge fund. Before CapitalWorks, Brent worked in a variety of roles with Shaker Investments and Verus Investment Management, ultimately serving as Partner and Portfolio Manager. Brent attended Clemson University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Cleveland State University. Brent and his wife reside in Chagrin Falls with their two children.

    Portfolio Manager

    I am a Portfolio Manager at Carnegie Investment Counsel, an investment advisory firm serving clients nationwide for over 40 years. As such, Carnegie works with a variety of clients. My focus ranges from working with from high net worth individuals and families to endowments and foundations. I am a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a professional designation which provides me the academic background to serve my clients' investment management and planning needs. I feel strongly about helping my clients reach their unique financial goals. Prior to joining Carnegie, I spent 6 years responsible for investment oversight at a large community foundation. My professional experience includes both Board work in finance and investment management and broader volunteer activities.

    Wealth Advisor, Portfolio Manager

    An Integrated Wealth Advisor at Carnegie Investment Counsel, William is also a part of the advisory team of the firm. He handles all aspects of investment portfolio management and client relationship. He offers advice to a diverse group of clients including professionals in academia, the medical and cultural fields, young families, divorcees, and retirees. He also combines his passion for art with specialized planning and advice to collectors. Before joining Carnegie, William worked with Tower Wealth Management, the Proper Analysis, BNY Mellon, and Chess Financial. He also rendered his services for a couple of years in the financial institution of crime and liability insurance for Progressive and the Lindner Family. William received a Bachelor’s as well as Master’s in Finance from Kent State University. He was the youngest graduate of both programs for several years and also held the Wall Street Journal Award for the highest GPA in Finance. He volunteers his time in various roles at the Cleveland Museum of Art, The Planned Giving Counsel, and The Church of the Covenant, as well as serving on the Board of the Bird Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of the Bird Fund.

    Client Advisor

    Bryan serves as a Client Advisor at Carnegie. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner who handles relationships with select clients. His role is to coordinate and provide financial planning advice such as retirement planning, cash flow analysis, tax planning, education funding, and estate planning. Working in tandem with a Carnegie Portfolio Manager, he is able to provide comprehensive wealth management solutions for clients. Bryan has extensive industry experience, having worked at Wells Fargo Advisors and Charles Schwab’s Private Client Group. Bryan’s childhood was spent in Medina, Ohio, a nearby suburb of Cleveland. He attended The Ohio State University, earning degrees in Finance and Economics. Bryan currently lives on the east side of Cleveland with his wife Alyse.

  • Jodi S. Cowgill

    Senior Portfolio Administrator/Trader

    Jodi joined Carnegie in 2001. Currently working as a Client Service Manager, she provides excellent service to current and prospective clients. She has more than 20 years of experience in investment management and financial planning. Clients consult her for various account needs including RMDs and check and account disbursement requests. She is also responsible for internal reporting and is a major part of the firm’s CRM system. Her consideration of details and responsiveness make her a valuable asset to the firm. Prior to joining Carnegie, Jodi had been working with Zilber & Associates since 1990. She received a BSBA in Finance from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Cleveland State University. She has volunteered for over 20 years for the Adoption Network. She likes live music, traveling, walking, and photography. Jodi, along with her husband and two sons, lives in Highland Heights.

    Personnel and Client Service Manager

    MaryBeth joined Carnegie in 2014 and serves as Personnel and Client Service Manager. She provides excellent customer service current and prospective clients. Responsible for facilitating paperwork between Portfolio Managers and custodian partners with a high attention to detail and excellent personal skills Clients consult her for various account needs. MaryBeth is also Carnegie’s Human Resource Manager, working directly with long-time and new employees. make her a valuable part of our team. MaryBeth was born and raised in Cleveland and now resides in her Shaker Heights, Ohio home with her husband and five children. She is constantly on the go, supporting her children in their many sporting events: hockey, baseball, basketball, and lacrosse. MaryBeth obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Oil Painting, Drawing and Printmaking from The Ohio State University.

  • Kyle Kopecky

    Client Service Manager

    Kyle Kopecky joins Carnegie as Client Service Manager. Kyle has extensive industry experience and has held positions as a Senior Associate and Office Manager for two family office and advisory firms. In these roles, she has handled client administrative needs, custodian interfacing, back office support and general office oversight. Kyle is a longtime Cleveland native and resident of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She is active in her community, serving as past president of University School Parents Association, volunteering at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, and a board member of the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre. Kyle likes to sail, ski, skeet shoot and play tennis.

  • Raz Pounardjian

    Portfolio Manager

    Raz works as a portfolio manager at Carnegie. He manages custom portfolios for selected clients and serves on the firm’s investment committee. Prior to joining Carnegie, Raz worked at Tower Wealth Management in the capacity of research analyst for 2 years. He also worked at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Longbow Research. He received a B.S. in Economics in 2010 from John Carroll University. He is the treasurer of the Armenian Cultural Organization of Ohio and volunteer at St. Gregory of Narek Armenian Church. He also hosts a weekly radio program called Armenian Radio at WJCU 88.7 FM. He enjoys playing sports, running, and spending time with his family and friends.

    Senior Portfolio Administrator

    Sue joined Carnegie Investment Counsel in 2008. She serves as Operations Manager and a Portfolio Administrator. She leads Carnegie’s internal operations to support efforts to ensure exceptional client services and the firm’s efficiency. Along with 17 years of working in customer service in the investment management business, Sue has more than 30 years of experience in administrative support. She is a native of Ashtabula who has obtained an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences from The University of Akron. She likes to play the piano, read, attend football games, and visit her out-of-town family. She lives with her fiancé in Mayfield Heights.

    Managing Director - Cincinnati

    Bob is the Managing Director of the Carnegie Investment Counsel Cincinnati office. As a Fee-Only financial planner and member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), he focuses on the unique financial planning and wealth management needs of his clients and their families. As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™, Bob has developed a specialty in helping clients before, during, and after divorce. After beginning his career as a Certified Public Accountant at the Cincinnati office of Ernst & Young, he was an executive officer of Fifth Third Bank in the areas of audit, credit risk, mergers/acquisitions, and enterprise risk management. With his professional experience, Bob brings a depth of understanding to a wide-range of financial topics for both individuals and businesses. In addition to his professional licenses, Bob holds both an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame (BBA – Accountancy) and a Masters in Business Administration from Xavier University.     Heidi Rose joined The Alpine Financial Group in 2000, and became part of Carnegie Investment Counsel in 2013. Heidi has 14 years experience as a Certified Financial Planner™. Heidi helps clients identify and achieve their financial goals through financial planning in the areas of retirement planning, investment evaluation, tax planning, estate planning and insurance. Heidi plays an integral part in managing client portfolios specific to the clients’ needs and desires. Prior to joining The Alpine Financial Group, Heidi worked in the Retirement Services Group at Fidelity Investments and with Fifth Third Bank. As one of the first graduates of Northern Kentucky University’s CFP® program, Heidi graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance concentrating in Personal Finance and a minor in Business Administration. Heidi lives in Northern Kentucky with her husband and three small children. Many Sundays she is found in the pre-school ‘barnyard’ (worship center) leading preschoolers in “Wee Jam worship.” She enjoys attending her kids’ soccer games, boating, and singing.

    Senior Financial Planner, Managing Director - Fort Myers

    Donald Haisman has more than twenty years of experience in the financial services business managing the assets of high net worth individuals, organizations and pension plans. Mr. Haisman earned his undergraduate degree in engineering and complemented it with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Early in his career, he was an registered representative with Investors Diversified Services Inc. Frustrated by the conflict of interest inherent in a commission-based sales environment, he founded Haisman Wealth Management, Inc., a fee-only registered investment advisory firm. Haisman was recently acquired as a branch of Carnegie Investment Counsel. Mr. Haisman earned the professional credential of Certified Financial Practitioner™ practitioner. His investment philosophy is derived from his studies of Modern Portfolio Theory—focusing on building individual client portfolios that maximize profits per unit of investment risk. By utilizing low-cost, no commission investments held by an institutional custodian, Carnegie is able to implement investment strategies at quite a reasonable cost.

    Laura’s degree in education was the commencement of a lifelong desire to broaden her knowledge and challenge herself in various professional fields. Managing a professional office in the Graphics and Lithography field was a challenging and rewarding beginning. Her duties quickly expanded to include customer relations, accounting, in-house sales, and job estimating. As her skills and experience evolved, she moved into the graphics management, veterinary and construction fields, all the time organizing and coordinating a litany of office management duties. Continuing her desire to obtain the specialized knowledge of our firm, Laura completed the Registered Paraplanner, RP® course from the College for Financial Planning.

    Managing Director - Philadelphia

    Howard formed Schuylkill Capital Management, Ltd.in 1990 to provide conservative investment management to a select group of pension funds, endowments, foundations, and private capital clients.  In 2015, he combined his business with Carnegie Investment Counsel and currently  Howard brings to 50 years of investment management experience in a variety of roles with banking and money management firms, including research analysis and portfolio management.  At the Provident National Bank in Philadelphia, he was a portfolio manager for $120 million of personal trust assets and co-manager of $140 million in common trust fund assets. In the corporate world, he acted as merger and acquisition advisor to the Rohm & Haas Company acquisition program.  Howard is an active member of various charitable, and professional organizations in Philadelphia.  He currently serves as President of the Bond Club of Philadelphia.  In years past, he served as president of both the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Securities Association. His charitable board activities span over 30 years and include the Philadelphia History Museum, Philadelphia Development Partnership, Friends Life Care Partners, and the Numismatic & Antiquarian Society of Philadelphia. Howard received his undergraduate and M.B.A degrees in Finance from Pennsylvania State University.  In 2002,  he received the Penn State MBA Alumni Society Distinguished Achievement Award.  He also serves as Board of Visitors, Temple University Library and Oversight Committee, and the Penn State University Nittany Lion Fund.

    Regional Director/Portfolio Manager

    Scott serves as Regional Director/Portfolio Manager for Carnegie. Scott spent the formative part of his investment career at E.I. DuPont de Nemours, managing pension assets for the DuPont company as a member of the global equity team. He followed his passion to work with individual clients when he joined Flagship Capital Management in 2006. Prior to joining Carnegie, he served as a portfolio manager and adviser at the Fieldstone Financial Management Group. Scott became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1995, and he earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

    Kim serves as Principal – Director of Retirement Services for Carnegie.  She is responsible for overseeing the plan sponsor services which includes plan governance, plan effectiveness and plan Investment and monitoring. Kim has over 25 years of experience in employee benefits consulting.  She has worked in varies firms, Mercer HR, PNC Bank and American Century Investments.  She earned her BS in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh.  She is a designated Accredited Investment Fiduciary.  She currently resides in Jefferson Hills, PA.

    Chad serves as Portfolio Advisor in the Pittsburgh office, helping identify prospective clients both for individual wealth management portfolios and retirement services plans. He manages client relationships and helps them develop a customized financial strategy aligned with their financial plan and goals. Prior to joining Carnegie, Chad served as an internal sales representative at Federated Investors for 3 years. He holds his Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Ohio University. He currently resides in McMurray, PA, and enjoys just about any sport, traveling, as well as the occasional round of golf.
