Mathew Van Deusen, MD Mathew Van Deusen, MD, is a thoracic surgeon with AHN Cardiovascular Institute, specializing in advanced surgical care for conditions affecting the heart, lungs, and other areas of the chest cavity. His expertise in esophageal surgery focuses on addressing conditions such as cancer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, and hiatal hernia, as well as various swallowing disorders. Dr. Van Deusen went to medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He did his residency, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at AHN Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mathew is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is also affiliated with the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
